Cheese-monger Monday: Brie

Name: Joan of Arc Brie
Maker: Joan of Arc http://www.joanofarcbrie.com/
Milk type: cow's milk
Cheese type: French brie
Rating: 3 1/2 out of 5 cows.
Price: $1.99 for that little piece.
Words: Now this is some cheese. Love it. It's like if butter went to heaven and hooked up with cream and had babies and the babies came back to earth and turned into cheese. Mellow, creamy, rich, and so soft. Yum.

Kinda mean!

I'm making fried chicken. I'm going to put a fan in the window. It serves two purposes. First to help get the greasy air out my house. Second, to make all passers by jealous and hungry. ;-)

Cheese-monger Monday- Sottocenere Al Tartufo

Name: Sottocenere Al Tartufo
Maker: ??
Milk type: raw cow's milk
Cheese type: Italian soft cheese with truffles
Rating: 2 out of 5 cows.
Price: $Look at the picture silly.
Words: YIKES. OK. There's a reason I'm called Mr. Finicky. Because I hate some food. One of them is truffle oil. Why turn a truffle into a disgusting oil then put that in cheese? So that I can barf. Well I really didn't barf but it wasn't that good.

Fourtounately I have a partner taster tonight and she say's it gets milder the more you eat, and over all it's ok.

This cheese has truffles, truffle oil, and ash rind and is soft. Meh. Where was that Irish cheddar again?

Beer: 22oz Workhorse IPA
Brewing Co: Lauralwood Brewing Co. (Portland, OR)

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Cheese-monger Monday: Barely Buzzed

Name: Barely Buzzed
Maker: Beehive Cheese Co.
http://www.beehivecheese.com/
Milk type: cow's milk
Cheese type: Aritsan
Rating: 4 out of 5 cows.
Price: $Look at the picture silly.
Words: This is some serious cheese It's really good! the thing is that it goes with very little. What I mean is that it's only an artisan cheese. I wouldn't cook with it, I wouldn't pair it with anything usually found in my kitchen. So it's cheese for cheese's sake. Like a slightly dry manchego but you taste hints of coffee which is the crust you see.

Secession Cascadian Dark Ale

Beer: 22oz Secession Cascadian Dark Ale
Brewing Co: Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland, Or)
ABV: 6.5%
Rating: A spendy 4 out of 5 stars.
Price: $4.99 (7-11)
Words: I think more on the IPA side than on the dark ale side but this beer does not disappoint any way you look at it. For those who don't like the super IBU beers I would knock off one star. But as all Hopworks you pay a hefty price.

Cheese-monger Monday!

Name: Waldvieatler Farmhouse Cheese
Maker: Waldvieatler
Milk type: sheep's milk
Cheese type: farmhouse
Price: $Look at the picture silly.
Words: So I had no idea what to expect. And what I got was a very tasty cheese. It's more savory/creamy than cheesy imho. Umm, don't drink this with an IPA. Try something more like.. like...like a Farmhouse ale. See farmhouse really just means a simple recipe with the freshest ingredients. A farmhouse ale, or something more on the super light side would do you right with this creamy smooth and intensely savory cheese.

I'm gonna try again

Ok, I'm going to try this regular posting thing here again. I post pretty regularly on facebook at www.facebook.com/Mr.Finicky but somehow can't seem to do the same here. But I'm determined.
